Fiji Bati and South Sydney Rabbitohs winger Taane Milne has been handed a two-week suspension for his dangerous tackle on Melbourne Storm’s Cameron Munster in the dying seconds of the Rabbitohs’ 54-20 loss to the Storm.
Milne was cited with a Grade 3 Dangerous Contact charge from the match review committee for the dangerous tackle.
With the game just about over, Storm five-eighth Cameron Munster was standing, but wrapped up in a tackle when Milne came in and purposely tried to take out his legs.
Former Australian Kangaroos captain Cooper Cronk says it is an ordinary effort from Milne with no time left on the clock.
Cronk says that was a terrible effort from Milne.
The 28-year-old will miss three weeks if he challenges the charge and loses.
Rabbitohs coach Jason Demetriou was asked about the incident in his post-game press conference and says it probably ends a dumb night on a dumb note.
Demetriou says it was a frustrating way to end the game.
In other matches yesterday, the Titans beat the Warriors 27-24 and the Roosters thrashed the Dragons 60-18.
In other round 8 matches this week, The Sea Eagles will play the Eels at 10 tonight, the West Tigers will take on the Broncos at 730pm tomorrow, the Cowboys will play the Panthers at 9.35pm tomorrow, the Dolphins will take on the Knights at 4pm Sunday and the Raiders will host the Sharks at 6.05pm tomorrow.
