Swire Shipping Fijian Drua rookie halfback Philip Baselala is grabbing every opportunity he can to learn from the best during his professional rugby journey.
During an interview with fijivillage News, Baselala says being one of the youngest players in the team, he is just grateful to be getting advice from the experienced players in the team such as Frank Lomani, Simione Kuruvoli and Peni Matawalu.
The 19-year-old says he is taking into account every little thing he can learn from the senior players.
He says this year, he is just focusing on improving his game and is also aiming for a spot in the Flying Fijians squad for the June and July tests and also the Fiji under-20s.
The Solotavui, Kadavu man was named into the Fijian Drua development squad last year after being spotted at the Vodafone Super Deans in 2022 when he was playing for Suva Grammar School.
He made his Super Rugby Pacific debut against the Melbourne Rebels last year after being called up into the main squad.
He was later named in the Fiji under 20s that played in the Junior World Championship in South Africa last year.
The Drua will play their last pre-season match this Friday against the Melbourne Rebels at 5.30pm in Melbourne. They will play the Blues next Saturday at 3.35pm in Auckland in their first Super Rugby Pacific match this year.
