All Blacks utility Jordie Barrett will not be shifted to five-eighth despite injuries to some key players of the Hurricanes in that position.
Simon Hickey is already out for the season due to a knee injury while an achilles injury to Jackson Garden-Bachop makes him a doubt for Saturdays clash against the Chiefs.
However Defence Coach Corey Jane says they will not be giving Barrett the number ten jersey.
Jane says it would be unfair on Barrett if they put him into first-five as he was the best fullback last year and has done some good stuff already this season.
He says they like him better at fullback and will just have to go with the other options they have.
The Hurricanes will take on the Chiefs at 6.05pm Saturday while the Blues will face the Crusaders at 2.35pm Sunday.
