Ball possession is a critical area the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team will need to improve on to be able win their second Vancouver 7s title this weekend.
Fiji 7s Captain Meli Derenalagi says they realise that more work needs to be done for a successful outing.
Derenalagi says the main thing for them this week is to win the ball so they can play sevens the way they planned it out to be.
He says their main focus this week is their ball retention as this was their main downfall in the Los Angeles 7s final against South Africa.
There have been some changes to the side.
Aminiasi Tuimaba and utility back Livai Ikanikoda have returned home due to personal issues and injury.
Terio Tamani joins the team in Vancouver while Tuimaba returns for his grandfather's funeral and Ikanikoda head straight into an intensive rehabilitation program.
Fiji's first pool match in the Vancouver 7s is against Wales at 7.37am Sunday, they will face Canada at 10.49am Sunday in their second pool match and battle France at 2.33pm Sunday in their final pool match.
The Cup quarterfinals will begin at 6.19am next Monday, the Cup semifinals will start at 10.14am next Monday and Cup final will kick off at 1.28pm next Monday.
