Voreqe Bainimarama at the opening of the Lami High School telecentre

With just over two months to go, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has urged everyone to think carefully about who they will vote for in the upcoming general election.

Speaking at the opening of the Lami High School telecentre yesterday, Bainimarama said that some people want to drag the country back to the past.

He said it has become increasingly clear that some people want to throw the country into reverse.

He said their petty squabbling and division has brought Fiji to its knees before and yet now they are trying to convince you that they can work together.

Bainimarama said it’s nothing more than a coalition of hypocrites.

He added the whole country knows that the only thing these parties have in common is opposition to his government’s reforms.

The Prime Minister says they are united only by their determination to wind back the clock, to reject the advances of the past seven years and restore their own privileged positions at the expense of ordinary Fijians.

Meanwhile, 352 students of Lami High School now join the 77 thousand Fijians in the country who are already using 24 telecentres to connect to the internet and enter the digital age.

The 25 telecentres are currently running in the country and it is free and will be used by the students during school hours and the rest of the community in the evenings and on weekends.

The Prime Minister said with the click of a mouse people can access any piece of information on the World Wide Web and get instant access to almost any information they want.

He said it is also a wonderful way to communicate with families and friends through one of the chat services like Skype.
