Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and Opposition Leader Sitiveni Rabuka have called for unity and love in their Christmas messages.

Bainimarama in his message asked Fijians to strive to love each other in the same manner that Christ loves us all.
He says that people love their families, friends, neighbours, countrymen and women, and demonstrates that love with action.
The Prime Minister adds that people give their time and charity to spread love to those who need it most, especially those who are most vulnerable in our society.
Bainimarama has also wished a very happy Christmas to those Fijian troops who are returning home from their tour of duty in Lebanon and the Golan Heights to spend the holiday here with their loved ones in Fiji as these troops can ask for no better gift.
He offered his greatest gratitude to those spending Christmas away from home in the service of their nation, as volunteers, Police or as UN Peacekeepers adding that no matter how far from Fiji, they are in the thoughts and prayers of all Fijians.
In his Christmas message, Opposition Leader Sitiveni Rabuka said he sincerely believes that we must continue to have hope and we must all be committed in building unity among our different communities.
Rabuka says that during this festive season, we must reflect on where we are and it is time to remember all that we have to be thankful for.
Th Opposition Leader says as we celebrate the birth of Christ, let us also celebrate the selfless acts and sacrifice of all who have gone before us.
Rabuka says we should reflect on values of love, service, and compassion.
He says we must continue to be thankful to those in our society who bring love and happiness in our daily lives and look for ways of spreading that love to others wherever and whenever we can.
Rabuka adds it is time to unite and forgive each other in the spirit of Christmas as we move into 2019 and beyond.
