Nasinu Magistrate Charles Ratakele has refused the bail application of the 33-year-old truck-driver who allegedly murdered a 16-year old boy in Nakasi last Thursday.
Rodrick Chand who has been charged with one count of murder appeared in court today.
While delivering his bail ruling, Magistrate Ratakele says the argument that the charge ought to be changed is speculative at the moment and the state has the right to change the charge at a later date.
He says Chand has failed to provide the court his fixed address and the names and suitability of his sureties.
Magistrate Ratakele says for now, Chand is still charged with murder and the submissions made before him has been less than satisfying.
It is alleged that while reversing his truck, Chand hit the boy who was sitting along the common driveway last Thursday.
The boy was found in a pool of blood that morning.
The case has been transferred to the High Court and will be called again next Friday.
