The Ba Youth Group which planted around 5,000 mangrove seedlings in Namoli Village in Lautoka has been commended by Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
Sayed-Khaiyum joined the youth group to plant mangroves yesterday.
He says he really appreciates that most of the members of the youth group are in high school.
Sayed-Khaiyum says climate change is not about having conferences around the world, however, it's about the practical issues faced by people every day.
He says as seawater level is rising, the temperature in the sea is also increasing and Fiji’s focus is on adaptation.
Sayed-Khaiyum says with the Climate Change Act recently passed in parliament, landowners now have the opportunity to earn some revenue without actually having to exploit their resources.
