The Ba Provincial Holding Company Limited has managed to fundraise $242,021 in the Vanua o Ba festival at Koroivolu Park in Nadi.
Secretary of the Bose ni Momo ni Yasana ko Ba Jese Saukuru says they were aiming to collect around $100,000 but have received overwhelming support.
He says they will soon be setting up an education scholarship fund which will provide scholarships to the students of the Ba Province who want to pursue tertiary studies and have missed out from the toppers scheme.
Saukuru says they want to start this initiative from next year.
Another major project will see the construction of a five storey building at Matuku Street in Samabula which will have a retail space, office accommodation and hostel for students from Ba who are currently staying in Domain.
Saukuru says the first phase of work will cost them $5 million and they will soon be approaching a commercial bank to get a loan.
Work on this project is expected to start next year.
He says the Bose Ni Momo has agreed to later construct a 10 storey building in this same area which will be a landmark property of the Ba Province in Suva.
