The Bank of the South Pacific today donated $5,000 to the University of the South Pacific BulaBots team for the FIRST Global Challenge Robotics Competition that will be held in Singapore from the 7th to the 10th of October.
The team is mentored by Dr.Utkal Mehta and Ashneel Chand from USP which consists of 7 Foundation students with a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
Students including Eshal Bari, Jett Quai Hoi, Charlize-Joy Smith, Josefa Toganivalu, Paula Cakaunivere, Kai Long Hu and Vicky Wu believe that the solutions lie in the integration of traditional knowledge and innovative technology, along with the support of the global community.
The students also highlighted that they have been preparing for the competition for the past two months.
BSP country Head Haroon Ali says he believes that the team will do extremely well in the competition.
On behalf of the BSP team, Ali wished the team the best for their participation.
The 4 students from the BulaBots team will be leaving for Singapore next Wednesday.
The theme for this year's competition is "Hydrogen Horizon".
