The Avengers team which has quickly developed a strong reputation in Fiji will be playing in the Easter Volleyball Championship next week.

It was formed in the wake of the COVID-19 lockdown.

One of the founders, Wayne Fisher says the club was formed by a group of friends who would train at the only available court at the time at DAV College in Nabua.

He says the club was started by four national reps.

They are Wayne Fisher, Anthony and Philip Foster and Sairusi Cavula.

Fisher says the team is made up of FNU and USP students and a few of the boys have just started working.

He adds they have two teams competing.

Fisher says when they started, some of players were given nicknames such as Thor so they decided to name the club Avengers.

The captain of the team is Joji Katia.

The Easter Volleyball Championship starts next Thursday.

$2,000 is the prize money.

The closing date for registration is this Friday.

Clubs can call Semaima on 9363106 or 7433549 if they want to register.
