The Australian Air Force has given an aircraft to the Fiji Government to provide and improve the standard of services in our nation.
While speaking at the officiating of the arrival of the C27 aircraft, Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration, Pio Tikoduadua says this aircraft was given to support government operations.
Tikoduadua says under the Vuvale Partnership, Fiji and Australia are working together to build Pacific resilience to traditional and non-traditional security threats.
He says this year, we are reminded of the growing threats of extreme weather and floods and worrying threats of drugs and for that reason, we must work together to tackle the challenges that our nation is facing.
The Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration is encouraging the nation to work with the Australian team and their joint air task unit established in his Ministry.
He further says we are living in an age where we cannot work individually, and the nation demands those who are running the government to work with national purpose which is the Pacific way.
Australia's High Commissioner to Fiji, Ewen McDonald says the arrival of the C27 aircraft to Fiji delivers on the joint ministerial commitment made by Minister Tikoduadua with the Deputy Prime Minister in Australia to have more Australian aircraft in Fiji for the support of the people of Fiji and to provide government services.
He says this is a good opportunity to see how Fiji will use the aircraft provided to fulfill it’s priorities, especially to combat illegal activities that are on the rise in Fiji.
