Australia dominated the second Test against India in Melbourne, finishing their first innings with 474 runs.
Steve Smith played a key role, scoring 140 runs, while Marnus Labuschagne made 72, Alex Konstas scored 60, and Usman Khawaja contributed 57.
India’s response was 164-5 at the end of day 2, trailing by 310 runs.
In Australia’s first innings, Smith’s century helped build a strong total, including a 112-run partnership with captain Pat Cummins, who scored 49.
India struggled with the bat, with Scott Boland and Cummins taking key wickets.
Cummins dismissed both Rohit Sharma for 3 and KL Rahul, who was bowled out for a duck, while Boland took 2 wickets for 24 runs.
India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli tried to steady the innings, but a mix-up led to Jaiswal’s run-out, and India lost quick wickets.
