A man who had earlier admitted to misusing funds under the Help for Homes initiative changed his plea to not guilty  in the Suva Magistrates Court today.

FICAC had charged Atunaisa Ravatu with one count of General Dishonesty – Causing a Loss and two counts of General Dishonesty – Obtaining a Gain .

Ravatu disputed some facts contained in the summary of facts and wished to change his earlier guilty plea to a plea of not guilty.

It was alleged that he dishonestly caused a loss to the government by misappropriating MPAISA cards which belonged to villagers of Vuna District in Taveuni amounting to $22,231.22 in 2016.

He also allegedly obtained $1,600 in Suva and $2,000 in Sigatoka from the Cash Back promotion given by Vinod Patel Company Limited.

The matter has been adjourned to 2nd August 2019.
