Attorney General and FijiFirst General Secretary Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum [L] and NFP provisional candidate Attar Singh [R]

Attorney General and FijiFirst General Secretary, Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum says that if National Federation Party provisional candidate, Attar Singh knew of people who have received funds through the CARE Programmes who did not deserve it, he needs to make it known.

Sayed‑Khaiyum says that if Attar Singh knows this information and has not made it known to the authorities then Singh is withholding information that will lead to criminal investigations.

Sayed‑Khaiyum says that Singh needs to tell the Permanent Secretary for Economy and the audit team who has audited different people who have not been deserving and have withdrawn these funds.

This comes after Attar Singh made comments while speaking at a campaign meeting in Davuilevu Housing on Wednesday night that he has heard stories of people giving false information to get government assistance under the CARE programs however he has not reported that because he does not know the identity of these people.

Singh says giving assistance to people who need it is fine but giving it to those who don’t deserve or need it is irresponsible.

Meanwhile Singh had also claimed that the FijiFirst Party knew when the general elections was going to take place before the Writ of Elections was announced.

He says the FijiFirst Party had put billboards up overnight as soon as the Writ was announced.

Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum says that everybody knows that it is the prerogative of an incumbent government to set the date for elections.
