At least give us a warning.
This has been stressed by some residents of Sakoca in Tacirua as they raised concerns about the constant water cuts in the area.
Krishna Datt who has been living there since 1987 says they have always encountered this problem where water supply gets cut off in the afternoons and does not get restored in the mornings.
When fijivillage visited Sakoca today, residents did not have water supply.
Datt says they have called the Water Authority of Fiji numerous times to at least give them a notice beforehand so they can prepare.
He says the response they usually get is that there is something wrong with their pipes.
Another resident Nikita Prasad says there is no water supply since last night and they are still waiting for it to be restored.
Prasad says they have babies at home which makes it even more difficult whenever there are water cuts.
She says this happens nearly every week where the Water Authority does not inform them about the disruption.
Prasad also says that most of the time no one picks up the phone when they call the Authority.
Water Authority of Fiji’s Chief Operating Officer Seru Soderberg says Tacirua is one of the areas which is part of their intermittent supply area listing.
Soderberg says they have areas in the Suva and Nausori corridor where they cannot deliver water on a 24 hours a day basis, but they get water for a certain number of hours a day.
He says if the people in these areas do not get water for a longer period, then water carting services is provided.
Soderberg says this problem will only be fixed after the Viria Water Project is functional.
