Asenaca Tikoca has revealed in Ratu Isoa Tikoca’s trial that she is not a member of the Fiji Institute of Accountants nor a member of Internal Auditors in Fiji.

Asenaca Tikoca is the third defense witness.

She told this during the cross examination by FICAC counsel, Rashmi Aslam.

Aslam also asked he if she has studied forensic accounting to which she said no.

Asenaca also told the court that she had assisted Isoa Tikoca and also provided reports to FICAC when Isoa Tikoca was questioned by FICAC.

Aslam asked her if she made assumptions to come to a conclusion and whether she is giving her opinion to court. She responded by saying no.

Aslam then put to Asenaca Tikoca her that if she is not giving her opinion and assumptions then the court will not consider her evidence and they will have to bring an expert..

Asenaca told the court that she had applied her accounting principles to prepare the document.

Aslam then asked her if she did her analysis based on forensic accounting to which Asenaca said she did this based on standard audit procedures.

Asenaca Tikoca also told the court that she got involved in this case as she is the daughter of Ratu Isoa Tikoca and she is his accountant.

Tikoca is charged with failure to declare his liabilities contrary to section 24 of the Political Parties Registration, Conduct, Funding and Disclosures Decree.

It is alleged that Tikoca failed to declare the liability and the amount of the liability to the Registrar, the Permanent Secretary responsible for Elections that he had incurred to the Government of Fiji during his tenure as Fiji’s High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea.

The trial continues in the Suva Magistrates Court.
