The Navtarang and Radio Sargam Diwali Dress-up Competition sponsored by Rups Big Bear came to an exciting close with participants showcasing vibrant creativity and deep cultural pride.
26-year-old Artika Archana Chand from Narere emerged as the top winner for Navtarang while 37-year-old Ranjana Kumar, originally from Labasa and currently teaching in Tavua, won first place for Radio Sargam.
Chand and Kumar won $250 each.
In an interview with fijivillage News, Artika says winning this competition is more than just a prize, it’s a celebration of her hard work and creativity.
Chand says she dressed in a bold red saree symbolizing love, power and the blessings of Goddess Laxmi.
She dedicates her prize to her husband, kids and parents who made it all worthwhile.
She also appreciated the camaraderie shared with fellow participants and encouraged future competitors to stay true to themselves and enjoy every moment of the process.
Ranjana Kumar says her win is a personal triumph.
She says the competition allowed her to rediscover confidence and celebrate Diwali in a unique way.
Kumar says her outfit, adorned with jewel tones, reflected both her resilience and cultural heritage.
She says she felt particularly blessed this year by Goddess Laxmi.
She expressed gratitude to Radio Sargam for organizing the event and encouraged listeners to remember those who may not be celebrating, spreading joy to everyone in the community.
Meanwhile, the second prize for Navtarang was awarded to Kavita Rajput, with Kavit and his family placing third. For Radio Sargam, Aishani Vandhana secured second place while Shinal Prakash secured third place respectively.
