Arsenal have reduced Liverpool's lead at the top of the Premier League to two points after a 3-1 victory in a tense encounter at Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners knew defeat was unthinkable and their cause was helped hugely by Liverpool's normally reliable keeper Alisson enduring a nightmare as two errors gifted Arsenal the goals that ensured three crucial points.
Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard scored for Arsenal while Gabriel Martinelli scored for Liverpool.
Both teams were tied 1-all at halftime.
In the other matches today Wolverhampton Wanderers beat Chelsea 4-2, Manchester United thrashed West Ham United 3-0 while AFC Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest drew 1-all.
Meanwhile, Liverpool is now leading the pool table with 51 points followed by Arsenal with 49 points, Manchester City in third place with 46 points, Aston Villa in fourth place with 46 points and Tottenham in fifth place with 44 points.
