2023 McDonalds Fiji Coral Coast 7s champion, Ram Sami Army 7s is aiming to break their 17 year losing streak in the 36th Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s this weekend.
Army 7s Manager Inia Ledua says they last won the Nawaka 7s in 2006.
He says they always look forward to this competition and hopes the consistency they have at the moment will build their performance to reach their goal this weekend.
Ledua says after losing some of their players to the national 7s squad, they still have capable players to showcase this weekend.
He adds they aim to produce more players to wear the white jersey and are proud of their players; Inia Tawalo, Rokoua Rasaku and Anasa Qaranivalu, that have been called up to be part of the extended squad.
Ledua says for the last 2 years, they have put out a development program for their players and believes they have reaped the rewards this year.
Meanwhile, 84 teams will participate in the two-day tournament, with 48 men's teams, 24 U21 teams, 8 women's teams and 4 Indo-Fijian teams to go head to head for the Fellow Fijians competition.
The Nawaka 7s will be held on Friday and Saturday.
