All Blacks flanker, Ardie Savea has been named to captain the Hurricanes side for the 2021 Super Rugby Aotearoa season.
The explosive loose forward will succeed All Blacks teammates Dane Coles and TJ Perenara, who shared the leadership duties in 2020.
Savea says he is honoured to have the opportunity to lead.
He says the squad has a lot of great leaders, but for him, it is about bringing each players strengths out.
Savea debuted for the Hurricanes in 2013 and will be making his 100th Super Rugby match when they take on the Blues on the 27th of this month.
The Super Rugby Aotearoa will kick-off on the 26th of this month with the Crusaders taking on Highlanders at 6.05pm.
