Anthony Miller has been appointed as new CEO for Westpac Bank and his appointment will be effective from December 2024.
Miller was an internal candidate as he joined the bank in 2020 and takes over from former CEO Peter King. Westpac Chairman Steven Gregg says Miller was the standout candidate almost a year into his tenure at the bank.
Gregg says that in their search for a CEO, they looked for a customer-focused executive, who has a proven record of performance and has a deep understanding of the Australian market.
He further says the appointment of an internal successor will ensure a seamless transition, adding Miller knows what needs to be done and will move at pace.
Miller says Westpac is an exceptional company that plays a profoundly important role in the lives of millions of Australians. The CEO says he aspires to build on that work and unleash Westpac’s potential.
He wants Westpac to be a bank built on trust and reliability, always there to help its customers through life’s moments.
