Fiji Airways Flying Fijians flanker, Johnny Dyer says working in the Vatukoula Gold Mine for five years has taught him to always be grateful with whatever he has and keep believing that he will reach his dream.
In a Q&A session on teammate Nemani Nadolo’s YouTube channel, the 29-year-old shared that it was always his dream to wear the Flying Fijians jersey and play against the All Blacks.
Dyer says every time he puts on the white jersey, he knows he is representing his family, wife and kids and community.
Dyer currently plays for French club Biarritz Olympique.
He played for the Fijian Drua side that won Australia’s National Rugby Championship in 2018.
Dyer played a tremendous role in Fiji’s first test against the All Blacks last weekend.
He was named the Fiji Man of the Match, with 8 ball carries, 9 tackles and won 5 turnovers.
The Flying Fijians lost both their test matches against the All Blacks, losing 57-23 in the first match and 60-13 last night.
In other international matches, Samoa beat Tonga 37-15, the Wallabies edged France 33-30, Argentina beat Wales 33-11 and the British and Irish Lions thrashed the Stormers 49-3 in their warm-up match.
