In the three weeks following the Christchurch terror attacks almost 800 people contacted New Zealand’s Department of Internal Affairs to report online links to video footage of the killings or the shooter's so‑called manifesto.
Now two months on the number of such alerts has decreased to just a couple a week but as a Wellington man discovered the manifesto and references to it can turn up in the most unexpected places.
According to Radio New Zealand the man was watching an American welder on YouTube demonstrating various repair techniques when he went off topic and started talking about the Christchurch gunman and the shooter's manifesto.
Meanwhile, New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs' director of regulatory systems says it is impossible to completely delete something from the internet.
