The three police officers including, Roy Senibici, Inoke Tikoimalevani, and Samisoni Ralulu and two civilians, including Anare Buresolei and Anare Buresolei Vulaki, who allegedly tampered with methamphetamine from the Totogo Police Station, have been granted bail by the Suva Magistrates Court.
The prosecution had objected to the bail application stating that if bail is granted there is a high likelihood of the accused persons interfering with the witnesses, and they will not attend the court hearings.
Joji Cakau, who is representing Roy Senibici, Inoke Tikoimalevani, and Samisoni Ralulu, told the court that his clients are ready to follow any of the bail conditions set by the court.
He says they will also comply with any additional conditions to their bail, including surrendering their travel documents if they have any.
Gavin O'Driscoll, who is representing Anare Buresolei, says his client has a case in Nadi that they had fully disclosed, and he has been attending it.
He says his client is ready to put forth a cash bail and will comply with the bail conditions set.
The case has been adjourned to the 17th of April.
Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew had earlier stated that the three police officers had all been charged with one count of interfering with evidence.
The three allegedly unlawfully interfered with methamphetamine seized during the conduct of a police operation between 9th to 10th February 2024.
The two civilians have both been charged with one count of aiding and abetting interfering with evidence.
It is alleged that the two between the 9th and 10th of February, being a party to the offence of interfering with evidence, aided and abetted the unlawful interference of the seized methamphetamine during the conduct of a police operation.
