The man who allegedly stabbed his ex-wife several times in Samabula last night has been arrested.
He was arrested at the CWM Hospital this morning.
Police say the suspect in his 40s sustained injuries during the incident last night and is receiving treatment while under police guard. He had gone to the hospital to get medical attention.
His ex-wife remains admitted in critical condition.
The incident happened opposite a bakery in Samabula at the junction of Fulaga Street and Namuka Street at around 8 o’clock last night.
Police say the circumstances surrounding the attack is unclear at this stage.
Eyewitnesses say they heard screams and when they attended to the victim, they saw that she had been stabbed twice in the chest and was heavily covered in blood.
A few bystanders tried to stop the man however they were unsuccessful.
It is understood a man then stoned the attacker. The suspect then chased that man.
By that time, the woman was rushed to the hospital by some people.
