People’s Alliance Party Leader, Sitiveni Rabuka says all of Fiji share in the joyous celebration of Christmas just as we all share in Diwali.
Rabuka says when he visited a friend’s house during Diwali, he appreciated the beauty of their lights, and then he thought that Christians share that same reverence for light.
In his Christmas message, Rabuka says when he prays for greater understanding of the problems and challenges facing Fiji and its people and what must be done to overcome them, he is not alone.
Rabuka says he joins others from all beliefs who long to see Fiji rise again.
The former Prime Minister also says we can all accept the need for forgiveness whatever our beliefs are.
Rabuka says he understands the sensitivity of living in a country of different faiths, but those faiths largely follow the same principles of peace, tolerance, love of family and caring for others.
He says as a Christian, he must love his neighbour as he loves himself and he is under the orders to forgive.
Rabuka says this is not just a Christian principle.
