Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Viliame Gavoka says all decrees brought in by the previous government regarding the i-Taukei people, will be amended.
While speaking at the Vacirisalusalu ceremony hosted by the Vanua o Nakaria at Yako Village in Nadroga, Gavoka says there were 37 laws brought in as decrees during the reign of the previous government.
He says all these laws will be amended, so the benefits can be felt by the iTaukei people.
Gavoka calls on all Fijians to pray for those in leadership so that God can guide them in their journey and the decisions they make.
The Deputy Prime Minister also highlighted that there are no more fear tactics in leadership, and now reporters should not be afraid to report on anything they want to report.
He says before, newspaper articles and reports were scrutinized by lawyers, and if it fits the government laws, they will then be printed.
The Deputy Prime Minister adds that this is not happening now, and reporters should not be afraid to report on what they want to report.
Gavoka further says this is the coalition government's policy, where reporters do their research and report without fear.
Gavoka also highlighted that SODELPA was pivotal in the formation of the coalition government that we have today as they secured 3 seats in Parliament.
He says they were targeting 30 seats in the 2022 general elections, but they only secured 3 seats.
Gavoka says it was a difficult time for them as they had to choose between two big parties and both parties had two briefings with them.
The Deputy Prime Minister says through the prayers of their supporters, they went with the People’s Alliance and now all races in Fiji have shown that they are happy with the change in Government.
The Vacirisalusalu is an i-Taukei tradition to celebrate a job well-done or sometimes it is known as a retreat.
