Fly the Fiji flag for our country from today as we celebrate our 44 years of independence tomorrow.
People are also urged to wear blue from today to celebrate Fiji Day.
A call has also been made by the government to all citizens of the country to celebrate Fiji Day this year with their friends and families.
The government is encouraging every Fijian to reflect on the importance of this day.
This also includes Fijians living overseas.
The Theme for this year’s Fiji Day Celebrations is “Celebrating Fiji’s New Dawn”.
With celebrations planned for major divisions across the country, the main celebrations in Suva will feature a Fiji Day Parade and the 21 gun salute which will be reviewed by the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau tomorrow.
Labasa will hold the celebrations at Subrail Park today with a march through the town to the park.
The Chief Guest will be Minister for Agriculture, Inia Seruiratu who will deliver the keynote address.
The Lautoka celebrations at Churchill Park will also be held today with the Assistant Minister for Agriculture, Joeli Cawaki as chief guest.
The old capital, Levuka will have celebrations at Nasau Park and the Chief Guest will be the Minister for Youth and Sports, Laisenia Tuitubou.
