A quick chat with co-selectors John Plumtree and Grant Fox yesterday and Ian Foster had his first starting 15 as All Blacks coach pencilled in.
He won’t announce it to the world until Friday but for a man appointed Steve Hansen’s successor in December it represented another mini milestone in Foster’s seemingly endless wait for test one at the helm.
Halfback Aaron Smith, second five-eighth Anton Lienert-Brown and fullback Jordie Barrett appear the most clear-cut starters in the backs, while the Beauden Barrett versus Richie Mo’unga at first five-eighth debate will continue.
He adds he knows who will be the playmaker.
The All Blacks play the Wallabies at 3pm Sunday in their first Bledisloe Cup match in Wellington.
