Gameday in Oita city where the All Blacks are playing their second pool match against Canada is expected to bring thunderstorms and high humidity.
All Blacks and Canadian fans will be glad Oita Stadium has a roof as Typhoon Mitag approaches the island of Kyusha.
The Japan Meteorological Agency says this is the 18th typhoon to hit the region this year adding it could still pack a fair punch for tonight’s game.
Local officials closed rugby events yesterday as the typhoon neared Japan’s islands.
Typhoon Mitag is moving at a speed of 30 kilometres per hour with winds of up to 144 kilometres per hour and it is forecast to bring heavy rain with it.
The Meteorological Agency is asking locals on the island to watch for heavy downfalls that could course slips in some areas.
The All Blacks will face Canada at 10.15 tonight.
Looking at today’s match, France will take on USA at 7.45pm
