Alitia Keli Kautoga crowned 2019 Miss Festival of the Friendly North

Alitia Keli Kautoga has been crowned 2019 Miss Festival of the Friendly North.

Kautoga who is originally from Ba says she was not expecting the crown as the competition was tough.

The 22 year old teacher says she will be working on projects for the people of the North. Kautoga says she will be advocating to reduce plastic pollution in the Northern Division.

She says many people don't know the effects of plastic to our environment.

Kautoga adds she will also be focusing on getting solar panels for those areas which do not have electricity. 

The 2019 Miss Festival of the Friendly North Executive, Ram Lingam says $253,148 was raised in this festival.

Lingam says the money will be used to build a multi-purpose hall in Labasa.

He says it's an ongoing project which will take some time.

Lingam says they have bought the land worth of $150,000 and work will soon begin where they are planning to build sport facilities for the people of the North.
