Nausori Town Council’s CEO, Akhtar Ali confirms that plans are underway for the renovation and upgrade of Ratu Cakobau Park.
Ali says that renovation work will cost close to $1 million and work is expected to start in the second half of 2018.
He says the entire structure of Ratu Cakobau Park is to be upgraded including the grounds, seats, flood lights, roof and car park.
Ali says tenders have already been advertised and the Council is in the process of finalizing all these details.
His comments come after people raised concerns that the roof of the grandstand was leaking at some places last weekend during the downpour and some spectators were forced to change their seats while watching the Vodafone Fiji FACT.
Ali also explained the reason for the poor state of the public convenience facilities at the venue.
He says that the foul smell was due to the unfavorable weather conditions and the fact that Ratu Cakobau Park utilizes a septic tank.
