Blues prop Alex Hodgman will miss the final three weeks of the Super Rugby Aotearoa action due to his dangerous tackle during their 35-29 loss to the Highlanders in Dunedin last Friday.
The All Blacks prop was shown a red card in the 72nd minute of the game, after making contact directly to James Lentjes' head.
He entered an early guilty plea for the subsequent foul play charge, which has resulted in a three-week ban from the SANZAAR judiciary.
With just two rounds of play plus the final remaining, the suspension ends Hodgman's Super Rugby Aotearoa season.
The 27-year-old should be available to return to the field for the Blues' opening game of the inaugural Super Rugby Trans-Tasman competition against the Rebels on May 15th.
Meanwhile, the Blues will take on the Crusaders at 3.35pm Sunday and the Chiefs will face the Hurricanes at 7.05pm Friday.
