World number one Carlos Alcaraz is out of the Canadian Open after losing to Tommy Paul in the quarter finals in Toronto.
The 20-year-old made a sluggish start and eventually lost 3-6 6-4 3-6 to Paul.
In his first defeat since the French Open semi finals in June the Wimbledon champion made 13 unforced errors and served six double faults.
Paul will take on Italian Jannik Sinner for a place in the final, while De Minaur faces Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
