Minister for Education Rosy Akbar commissioned a new block of classrooms worth over $1 million at AD Patel College in Ba yesterday.
The new classrooms replaces an old structure destroyed by Tropical Cyclone Winston in 2016, and come with an outfit of sophisticated teaching aides and resources.
Akbar says it is the vision of the Fijian Government to have classrooms that are conducive to learning.
She also highlighted that while rebuilding, it was found that many buildings had very weak structures and without engineer's certificates. She says the new buildings can withstand Category 5 cyclones.
The Minister commended the advanced teaching facilities that came with the new Year 12 and 13 classrooms, noting that it would inspire and motivate students.
Akbar also urged students, teachers and parents to work together in planning the career aspirations of students as they progressed from Year 11, and highlighted the necessity of studying subjects that would be relevant to the higher education and planned professions of school students.
