The Nausori Town Council has successfully completed the removal of asbestos-containing material from the Old Nausori Market last month and the subsequent air test results revealed that it poses no threat to the general public.
This was highlighted by the Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations Jone Usamate after the National Occupational Health and Safety Service carried out a Clearance Air Monitoring at the Old Market vicinity.
He says that air test results revealed that the area is clear of any airborne asbestos-containing material.
Usamate adds that the Nausori Town Council or any other contractor can now access the immediate vicinity of the market and also the reopened Wainibokasi Road for use.
The Employment Minister says that any construction can now be pursued along with any other works upon the successful completion and safe removal of asbestos from the Old Nausori Market roof.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Employment has also confirmed that the safe removal and disposal of the asbestos-containing materials at the State House has been completed and the recent air test results revealed that it poses no threat to the general public.
