Agriculture sector estimate damage by recent flood at $1.7M
The estimated damage by the recent flood to livestock and crops as part of preliminary assessment made by the Ministry of Agriculture has amounted to $1.7 million.

The affected areas include Naitasiri, Tailevu, Rewa, Serua, Namosi, Nadroga/Navosa, Ra and the Central Division.

The Ministry of Agriculture will carry out a detailed survey and assessment of farmers whose crop and livestock were affected.

The Minister for Agriculture Lt. Col Inia Seruiratu earlier reassured farmers in Waidina that rehabilitation will begin soon with seedling supply.

He said the supply of vegetable seeds being a short term crop will enable quicker return to villagers.
