Bulldogs winger Josh Addo-Carr has declared his desire to earn his spot in this year’s NSW team for the State of Origin which kicks off in 2 weeks.
Addo-Carr says there is no question that he wants to be in the team as he wants to play with the best players in the world and represent his state, especially his family and his community.
He says that is what it is all about and he just wants to keep earning his spot and see what happens.
Addo-Carr has largely flown under the radar this season despite playing in all three games last year, but he's eager to step out of the shadows when the Bulldogs face the Dragons at Accor Stadium this Thursday in the opening clash of Indigenous Round.
The 28-year-old will line up against Zac Lomax, one of his biggest rivals for one of the NSW wing positions.
Addo-Carr says it is always a challenge, no matter who you play against in the NRL and adds Lomax is having a wonderful year this season.
He says everyone knows what type of player Lomax is but he is just focused on what he needs to do with the Bulldogs and earning his spot.
This weekend's slate of matches provides the final opportunity for Blues hopefuls to prove to coach Michael Maguire they belong in his team for the State of Origin opener on June 5.
The Bulldogs will take on the Dragons at 9.50pm in Sydney.
In other matches this week, the Cowboys will host the Tigers at 8pm Friday, the Sea Eagles will take on the Storm at 10pm Friday, the Raiders will play the Roosters at 5pm Saturday, the Sharks will host the Panthers at 7.30pm Saturday, the Rabbitohs will take on the Eels at 9.35pm Saturday, the Broncos will play the Titans at 4pm Sunday and the Warriors will battle the Dolphins at 6.05pm Sunday.
