Wallabies second‑rower Adam Coleman is determined to make up for lost time and force his way back into the starters against the All Blacks on Saturday as “crunch time” looms at the selection table less than seven weeks out from the Rugby World Cup.
Coleman has recovered from a shoulder injury and inclusion this week in his first Wallabies squad of the year could have come sooner had he not picked up a calf injury during rehabilitation.
After playing 11 of Australia’s 13 Tests last year – and 31 all‑up in the previous three years – the 27‑year‑old was limited to 10 appearances for the Melbourne Rebels this season in Super Rugby.
Coleman says his body is ready to get through 80 minutes of work if required.
A 35‑17 loss to the Springboks and 16‑10 victory over Argentina in recent weeks hasn’t exactly filled pundits with rife optimism that Australia can knock off the world No.1 All Blacks in the first fixture of their two‑match Bledisloe Cup series which kicks off at 9.45pm this Saturday.
