Actor Donald Sutherland, star of films including The Hunger Games series, The Italian Job and Don't Look Now, has died at 88 after a long illness.
His son, the actor Kiefer Sutherland, announced his father's death saying personally he thinks his father was one of the most important actors in the history of film.
He says his father was never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly as he loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that, a life well lived.
The news was met with an outpouring of support and tributes from the acting community like Actor/Director Ron Howard, Cary Elwes as well as Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
