Acting Supervisor of Elections, Ana Mataiciwa

Acting Supervisor of Elections, Ana Mataiciwa hopes the vacant posts in the Electoral Commission are filled, including the post of the Chair when the Constitutional Offices Commission meets tomorrow.

Mataiciwa says once the Commission is announced, they will need to meet and deliberate on who can sit and fill the vacant FijiFirst seats in Parliament.

Meanwhile, the Acting Supervisor of Elections says the powers of the Supervisor of Elections under the Electoral (Registration Of Voters) Act 2012 will be part of the reforms to the three electoral laws.

Mataiciwa says there were other controversial provisions that were also highlighted by the Multinational Observer Group so definitely, it is one of the recommendations they need to look at.

She adds they will not only look at the powers of the Supervisor of Elections but other provisions that were passed two years ago.
