About 65 percent of the road works on Rewa Street have been done, with the project expected to be completed by next month.
The Fiji Roads Authority confirmed this to fijivillage News when asked about the progress of the project, after it began last month.
The FRA says they aim to remove and replace the deteriorating bitumen surface, along with new line marking throughout the entire road.
They say this will enhance the road’s resilience, ease traffic flow and ensure a more sustainable infrastructure capable to withstand heavy traffic volumes and challenging wet weather conditions.
The FRA also revealed plans for similar improvements to other key roads within Suva City, including Fletcher Road and Laucala Bay Road, which are also facing significant surface deterioration.
They add these projects underline their commitment to build a safer, more efficient and durable road network.
