About 3,000 Fijian artifacts being collected at Cambridge University

About 3,000 Fijian artifacts from the 18th century are being collected by archaeologists and anthropologists at the Cambridge University.
Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama visited the museum at the university and acknowledged the great progress accomplished by the project team in cataloguing about 3,000 Fijian artifacts collected by traders, missionaries, whalers and colonial officials during their visits to Fiji.
Commodore Bainimarama also expressed the hope that the project will assist Fijians understand more of their history.
The project aims to unlock the potential of the outstanding collections of Fijian art, material culture and associated photographs and archives held in museums in the United Kingdom.
The bulk of these Fijian collections have never been displayed, nor have they ever been thoroughly researched or documented.
