About 15 women will benefit from the Care Catalyst Program training, a partnership between the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific and the Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation.
These women will undergo training in different phases for four months to understand the service they are supposed to provide and how they will help families in this process.
FCEF Chief Executive Officer, Jonetani Tonawai says the training initiative is to empower aspiring women entrepreneurs interested in establishing and operating their own childcare businesses.
Tonawai says the initiative is not only about entrepreneurship but also about nurturing the future and understanding the growing demand for childcare services in Fiji.
ESCAP Sub-Regional Officer, Nobuko Kajiura says it is a bold step in reshaping the landscape of care giving and is a platform for women to grow and build their social status in the community.
She says this will contribute to the economic growth of the nation as it will create job opportunities for many other women.
