Agricultural Marketing Authority of Fiji have launched their soft dried pawpaws and pineapples.
Minister for Agriculture, Dr Mahendra Reddy says growing locally produced products such as this will allow Fijian labourers to engage into meaningful and rewarding enterprises.
He says this will provide the source of livelihood for the rural dwellers and will assist them in meeting their food and nutritional security objective.
Dr Reddy says Fiji has one of the most fertile land suitable for crop agriculture.
He has applauded AMA and Food Processers for establishing a processing plant for pineapples.
Last year Food Processers launched canned pineapple in the market amongst other products.
Today’s launching will be a major boost to all local pineapple and pawpaw farmers to raise productivity, as well as bringing in more land under production.
