Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has stressed that quoting parts of the old testament selectively in the bible is hypocritical.
Sayed-Khaiyum highlighted this while responding to NFP’s Lenora Qereqeretabua’s apology in parliament for a facebook post she had made in September where she had used the word curse against the government however she had said that what she should have done is warn them of the sins of the father and mother, visiting their children.
He says Qereqeretabua tried to justify what she did by quoting Numbers in the Bible.
Sayed-Khaiyum also told the Opposition to remember when a woman was stoned in the bible and Jesus Christ said if you have not sinned then you should cast the first stone.
He adds that there has also been a number of attacks on the Prime Minister where the Opposition is riding high on a glamour train, but the shine in that glamorous train is wearing off very quickly.
Sayed-Khaiyum says that he remembers that some of their supporters after the results of the election said that it was such a narrow margin and he told them that God works in mysterious ways.
Meanwhile, Qereqeretabua has refused to make any comments in relation to her apology in parliament after her facebook post in September where she had used the word curse against the government.
While apologising in parliament, Qereqeretabua says what she should have done is warned them of the sins of the father and of the mother, visiting their children even to the 3rd and 4th generations as foretold in the bible.
When approached by Fijivillage for a comment on the sins of the father and mother visiting their children, Qereqeretabua says she will not make any further comments.
She said in parliament that the post which had been edited and modified was done in anger and disgust.
