Attorney General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the new FSC Board sees the cane farmers as major stakeholders and partners and the strategy is to include them in the entire plan to increase production levels.
While opening the Labasa mill for the 2017 crushing season, Sayed-Khaiyum says that people who work at the mill need to understand that if the cane farmers do not supply cane they do not have a job.
He says the farmers are their clients and they need to treat them with a particular level of respect, a particular level of service delivery that needs to be focused on encouraging them to continue to supply cane to the mill.
He also says the farmers need to understand if the mill workers are not there then the mill cannot run too.
Sayed-Khaiyum says if we do not look after each other and do not understand how everybody fits in the equation then we will suffer.
