The National Consumer Helpline is now in operation.
The Consumer Council of Fiji has established the help line in conjunction with the government's announcement in the setting up of the consumer helpline after the reduction of VAT and duties earlier this year.
The 155 toll free number can be used from any of the three networks, Vodafone, Digicel and TFL, and this service will be available to all Fijians on a 24 hour basis.
Consumer Council Chief Executive Officer, Premila Kumar says they managed to negotiate the call rates with the three companies to reduce it from 40 cents to 10 cents.
This will be paid by the council to the companies while the consumers do not need to pay a single cent.
Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says this will ensure that consumers benefit from various policy announcements.
Sayed-Khaiyum also called on the consumers to be responsible when using the helpline.
Consumers can call 155 with any consumer related complaints as of today.
