Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum called the Opposition “Bina Pendi ka Lota” which he says means a vessel without a base and that moves around all the time.
He said this while giving an example and raising concerns that Opposition parliamentarians continuously break out in vernacular without even translating while speaking in parliament.
While responding to the President’s speech, Sayed-Khaiyum says Opposition parliamentarians are doing this because they are trying to appeal to a particular segment.
He says the people who speak iTaukei will understand when the Opposition members speak in vernacular, however others will not.
Sayed-Khaiyum says parliament is for everybody and the speeches should be understood by everybody.
